drand round …

Check any draw yourself.

Your browser fetches the randomness from drand, re-hashes the entry list and recomputes the winner. You never have to take our word for the result.

Draw references appear on every result and in the public ledger. An entry reference identifies one ticket; paste that and we will find its competition.

How a result becomes checkable

Each step is worth something only because it happened before the next one existed.

  1. Before entries open

    The randomness is named

A specific future drand round is fixed in advance. Its number does not exist yet, and nobody can predict it, including us.

  2. While entries are open

Every ticket is published as it is issued

The entry list is public and searchable while the competition is still running, so you can confirm your own ticket is in it before the draw rather than after.

  3. At close

The entry list is sealed by somebody else

Every ticket is fingerprinted with SHA-256, and an outside authority timestamps that fingerprint before the winning number exists. It cannot be edited afterwards.

  4. After the draw

    The record leaves our control

The result is written to a public ledger hosted outside our infrastructure. Nothing exists only in our database.
